ClaimCare® has been recognized by Healthcare Tech Outlook Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top 10 Medical Billing and Coding Solution Companies - 2021,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry. This profile has been developed by the Healthcare Tech Outlook research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Carl Mays II, President and CEO.

Carl Mays II, President and CEO, ClaimCare®This initiated a process of continual evolution in coding and billing rules that is challenging providers in how they operationalize their patient care and how they bill for the broader range of care options. Additionally, COVID-19 testing and vaccines have led to significant volume changes. This puts a strain on many organizations since they need to determine how to deal with these volumes on a more permanent basis and also decipher when such testing can and cannot be billed. That is where ClaimCare can help.
ClaimCare did not miss a beat in staying focused on clients’ billing and AR when COVID-19 forced companies to establish remote working situations. ClaimCare President/ CEO Carl Mays II says, “We had instituted a work-from-home contingency plan over five years ago in response to weather and flu season situations that limited team members’ ability to come to our offices.”
With things already in place, ClaimCare has focused on research and education to help clients understand how new rules are impacting them and has also shown clients how to properly bill and collect on telehealth services.
With its no-surprises approach, ClaimCare was researching and educating clients on applicable issues early during the pandemic. Mays says, “We ranked among the best-prepared companies when COVID-19 struck.”![]()
We focus on insightful and action-oriented reporting and feedback to help clients understand how their billing is working and how they can improve it
With unique solutions that have been developed over 30 years, ClaimCare is at the forefront in solving the evolving challenges of effective (doing the right thing) and efficient (doing the thing right) medical billing. The company utilizes both off-the-shelf and proprietary automation technology to allow team members to focus on activities that have the largest impact on a client’s medical billing performance.
Mays emphasizes, “We focus on insightful and action-oriented reporting and feedback to help clients understand how their billing is working and how they can improve it. With an established, highly-skilled, 100% USA-based team assembled through a thorough pre-employment screening, we understand that medical billing is the lifeblood of a medical organization.
During COVID-19, ClaimCare took numerous clients who had never billed insurance before to billing significant volumes and receiving payments. For example, one lab went from never having billed insurance to being able to have over 10,000 COVID-19 tests per day paid by insurance. ClaimCare helped this lab in all aspects. They credentialed the lab, negotiated agreements with key payers, set up a billing system, and did all billing, follow-up and reporting to support the billing.
Mays concludes, “ClaimCare will continue to expand its proprietary automation technology to focus more on the high-value-added tasks and maximize client collections and minimize client payment-turn-around times. We also offer a broad range of services that include all aspects of what is needed by a medical organization to bill and collect money for their services successfully. We are expanding our already existing consulting capabilities so that we can meet the growing demand for clients that want consulting rather than outsourcing billing entirely.”
